Why your dispositions lie, and what to do about it

Three dialers, three vocabularies, one report. Disposition normalization is the least glamorous fix in outbound and the one with the biggest payoff.

If you run more than one dialer, or more than one campaign, your dispositions almost certainly disagree with each other. 'FAS', 'dead air' and 'no audio' describe the same event. 'Not interested' on one brand is a rebuttal opportunity on another.

The cost of a messy vocabulary

  • Reports that can't be compared across brands
  • Agents tagging defensively rather than accurately
  • AI models trained on noise
  • Coaching decisions built on the wrong denominator

Normalize once, apply everywhere

The fix is a single mapping layer that classifies every raw disposition into a positive, neutral or negative outcome, applied retroactively across history. Once that exists, every metric downstream becomes comparable — and your success rate can finally mean what your business means by success.

Define the win once. Let every chart, alert and report recalculate against it.

The practical test: can two managers on different brands look at the same chart and agree on what it says? If not, the vocabulary is the bug.
